Adult ADHD Evaluations — Telehealth

Licensed Psychologist | NC, NY & PSYPACT States

Comprehensive, evidence-based ADHD assessments for adults seeking diagnostic clarity and thoughtful treatment planning.

What is ADHD?

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain regulates attention, impulse control, and activity levels.

Many adults struggle with undiagnosed ADHD, often dismissing their symptoms as personal failings or character flaws rather than a treatable neurological condition.

ADHD presents in three primary types:

  • Predominantly Inattentive Presentation: Characterized by difficulty sustaining attention, following instructions, and organizing tasks
  • Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation: Marked by excessive fidgeting, restlessness, and difficulty waiting one’s turn
  • Combined Presentation: Features symptoms of both inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity

Adult ADHD

While ADHD is often identified in childhood, many adults live with undiagnosed ADHD. Research published by the National Institute of Mental Health indicates that ADHD often continues into adulthood, affecting approximately 4.4% of U.S. adults.

Why an ADHD Diagnosis Matters

An accurate ADHD diagnosis provides access to evidence-based treatment and practical supports that can significantly improve daily functioning:

  • Targeted treatment planning, including therapy, skills-based interventions, and medication consultation when appropriate
  • Workplace accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), such as flexible scheduling or written instructions
  • Identification of co-occurring conditions, including anxiety, depression, or learning differences
  • Improved self-understanding, reducing shame and self-blame
  • Prevention of long-term difficulties, including occupational instability and mental health concerns

Evaluations

Telehealth ADHD Evaluations

Telehealth ADHD evaluations are conducted using secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms and follow professional standards for psychological assessment. Remote assessment allows adults across NC, NY, and PSYPACT states to access high-quality ADHD evaluations without travel, long waitlists, or geographic limitations.

I provide structured, in-depth ADHD evaluations for adults experiencing longstanding difficulties with attention, organization, and executive functioning. Evaluations are conducted via secure telehealth and are designed to carefully assess ADHD symptoms while also considering alternative explanations such as anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep problems, or burnout.

This is not a brief screening or a shortcut to a diagnosis. The goal is diagnostic clarity with actionable recommendations.

What the Evaluation Includes

A typical adult ADHD evaluation includes:

  • A comprehensive clinical interview
  • Standardized ADHD and executive functioning measures
  • Consideration of differential diagnoses
  • A feedback session to review findings
  • A written diagnostic report for your records or providers

Evaluations are completed over multiple sessions to ensure accuracy and clinical integrity.

Diagnostic Approach

ADHD symptoms can overlap with many other conditions. This evaluation is designed to carefully assess:

  • ADHD symptom patterns across the lifespan
  • Functional impairment across settings
  • Executive functioning strengths and weaknesses
  • Alternative explanations (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep disorders)

A diagnosis is made only when criteria are clearly met.

Important Boundaries

  • A diagnosis is not guaranteed
  • This service does not include medication prescribing
  • Acceptance of reports by third-party providers is at their discretion
  • This evaluation is not intended for legal or forensic use

This evaluation is a good fit if you:

  • Are an adult (18+)
  • Have longstanding attention or executive functioning concerns
  • Want a careful, thorough diagnostic process
  • Are open to nuanced outcomes

This evaluation is not a fit if you:

  • Are seeking a same-day diagnosis
  • Need documentation for court, disability, or legal purposes
  • Are looking solely for medication access
  • Are seeking testing for a child or adolescent

For adults, ADHD can be evaluated effectively through telehealth. Most of the information needed to make a careful diagnosis comes from your history, current functioning, and standardized questionnaires—not from being physically in the same room. Any limitations of telehealth are considered when results are interpreted.
